GLADSTONE INTEREST: An Edwardian silver Arts and Crafts casket
maker's mark ? & S, Birmingham 1906
The hinged lid, with etched cartouches, centred with an engraved image of the Gladstone Club, with presentation inscription: 'PRESENTED TO JAMES LEMON Esq., C.?., J.P., BY THE MEMBERS OF THE GLADSTONE LIBERAL & RADICAL CLUB AS A SAMLL TOKEN OF THEIR APPRECIATION OF HIS SERVICES & TO COMMERORATE THE REBUILDING OF THE CLUB PREMISES', the sloped sides with diamond etching, the front panel with central shaped boss with centred with the bust of William Gladstone, the two sides with central shaped bosses with 'Novr. 13th 1906' and '1899 TO 1906' engraved to each boss, the reverse side with shaped central boss engraved with A.B Smith, President, C. Morey, Treasurer, W Down, Secretary', raised on four ball feet, height 12cm.
